Auro PDO Smooth Mono Threads Sharp Needle
Nine sizes of smooth PDO thread, from 30G × 13mm at the eye area to 26G × 90mm across the body. Smooth PDO threads improve firmness, texture and fine lines, and they make a lift from cog threads look like skin rather than work.
What this thread does
What the smooth filament brings once it is placed:
• A collagen scaffold rather than a pull — the smooth, barb-free filament goes in as a mesh-like pattern and triggers fibroblast activity, so firmness and texture build gradually instead of arriving the day you treat.
• Skin-quality work where barbs do not belong — the finer sizes suit thin, mobile and delicate zones such as the peri-orbital and perioral areas and the neck, where a smooth thread causes the least trauma.
• A result that outlives the thread — the thread is absorbed over 6–8 months while the collagen it stimulated stays behind; skin-quality improvement typically peaks at 3–6 months and fades gradually over 12–18 months.
Choosing between the nine sizes
The gauge sets the depth and the trauma; the length sets the coverage. Where each size is usually reached for:
• 30G × 13mm — eye and lip area. The finest and shortest size in this listing: crow’s feet, under-eye texture, the lip border and glabellar lines.
• 30G × 25mm and 38mm — fine lines across the face and neck. The general-purpose fine gauge for forehead lines, neck texture and crepey skin.
• 29G × 38mm and 50mm — cheeks, jawline skin quality, the nasolabial region. One step up in gauge for slightly thicker tissue, still within the fine-thread range.
• 27G × 38mm and 50mm — larger facial areas. Midface and cheek skin quality, where a longer run of thread covers more ground per pass.
• 26G × 60mm and 90mm — larger body areas. The thickest filament and the longest lengths here, for body areas such as the décolleté, hand and buttock.
• A sharp needle in every size. Each thread is sealed individually for direct placement. If you would rather work the eye area with a cannula, that is a separate listing — see the Eye Threads collection.
Final gauge and length follow placement depth, tissue thickness and your own technique. The list above is where each size is usually reached for, not a treatment protocol.
Frequently asked questions
Do mono threads lift the skin?
No. Smooth mono threads have no barbs, so they cannot grip or reposition tissue. What they change is firmness, texture and fine lines. When the goal is to move tissue, that is a cog thread.
Should I order a lifting thread at the same time as this one?
If you are treating the jawline, the cheeks, the submental area, the brow tail or a lax neck, yes — those areas are usually treated with cog and mono threads together. Add the cog design for your area to the order and both arrive together.
Is the needle sharp or blunt on this listing?
Sharp, in all nine sizes — this listing is the sharp-needle smooth thread. Blunt cannula and W-cannula designs are separate products, and the eye threads are a separate listing again.
What are these threads made of, and how long do they take to dissolve?
Polydioxanone — PDO — the absorbable polymer behind most thread work. Absorption runs about 6–8 months and the breakdown products are carbon dioxide and water; the collagen response it triggers continues after the thread is gone. Every pouch is CE-marked and made in an ISO 13485 facility.
Can these threads be used on the body as well as the face?
Yes. The 26G × 60mm and 90mm sizes cover the larger body areas, the décolleté and hand among them, while the finer sizes stay on the face and neck.
What it pairs with
Mono threads work the skin quality; cog threads move the tissue. On a jawline or midface protocol the two are usually ordered together — see the jawline guide and the cheek lift guide.
